GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — There are a little more than 450 power outages in Gloucester Township Thursday morning following a nor’easter that struck the region on Wednesday. Atlantic City Electric is reporting 453 outages as of 9 a.m., while PSE&G is reporting “fewer than five.”

The majority of the main, heavily traveled roads are mostly clear of snow and ice as of 9 a.m., according to Gloucester Township police. However, many residential streets and private parking lots may be snow covered and very icy, so drivers are advised to use caution.

Residents may also have a layer of ice on their windshields if their car was parked outside overnight, police said. They should take extra time to clear all ice and snow from their car, especially the roof where ice and frozen snow can become flying projectiles.

Due to current weather conditions, there will be no trash collection and brush pick-up Thursday, township officials announced. The normal trash collection schedule will be delayed by one day. Friday trash will now be collected on Saturday. Brush will be picked up next week on the normal brush days. Recycling will follow a normal schedule.

The storm dumped 2.9 inches of snow on the Blackwood section of the township, according to the National Weather Service. Here are some other inch counts from throughout Camden County:

The county also issued a Code Blue Weather Emergency on Monday that will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night this week, through Thursday.

When the Camden County Health Officer declares a Code Blue, municipalities with homeless populations, situational homeless or transient populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to accommodate their immediate needs.

The Camden County Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management have worked with each municipality to ensure they have the proper resources to respond to these severe weather situations as part of their individual Code Blue plans.

Each municipality has identified its own location to accommodate those in their community seeking shelter from the severe weather. Anyone seeking shelter in a warming center should contact their local municipality. The new after-hours Code Blue Emergency Hotline phone number is 2-1-1

Additional resources are available by calling the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services at 800-999-9045, or by visiting www.camdencounty.com.
