We are excited to share that the Rink Battle Creek is OPEN! Our schedule is available at therinkbattlecreek.com/schedule . While we are unable to hold traditional Open Skates, we are able to offer an Open Skate Exercise Session. This session is similar to the Open Skates you have come to love the Rink for, but limits the number of people on the ice and the player benches will be closed. Any sponsorship completed by April 2017 will remain in place through the 2018/2019 season at no additional cost. At roughly 500,000 people a year coming through the facility these marketing opportunities are a bargin (not to mention the help you will be giving to us to get this done for our community now). The Rink Battle Creek Updated 2017 Community Sponsorship Announcement There is a buzz in downtown Battle Creek and it is not just the sound of the Zamboni at the Rink. As you may be aware, the Rink in Downtown Battle Creek is under new ownership and is in process of rehabbing this community asset. Have you noted the changes? New exterior paint, lights in the lobby, renovated community room, new rental skates and aides, heat in the locker room and bath room…that is just for starters! With change well underway, the Rink BC is offering several ways in which you can become a sponsor of this facility, the home of the Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association, The West Michigan Wolves, our local teams, roughly 500,000 people who walk through our doors a season and our community youth. All funds raised through sponsorship activities will go into assets purchased for community use (skate aids, skates) or facility updates (dehumidifier, new boards, new heat above bleachers). All Sponsorships finalized by April 2017 will remain in place through the end of the 2018/2019 season. Lobby Sponsor - $2,000 You may have noted the new lights in the lobby. Plato died before Barrus’ body was found. He was a suspect in another rape when police detectives tried to interview him. But Plato resisted police and was shot to death as he tried to flee.
Police at the time also questioned Richard Compton who was a friend of Plato’s but he denied anything about Barrus’ death. Compton died in 2009.
