Castle Pines North Metropolitan District owns and maintains the parks, trails and open space in the District. The majority of open space in the community is owned and maintained by the District, while other spaces are owned by various homeowner associations.
Have you explored Castle Pines North yet? The District works year-round to ensure 352 acres are protected, preserved and repaired for residents to enjoy. Whether it’s running, cycling, or taking your children for stroll, there is a trail for you. The 14 miles of trails are 8-feet wide and paved to accommodate a variety of recreational activities. Horseback riding or use of any type of motorized vehicles (gas or electric) is prohibited on all trails and sidewalks. There are posted trail maps throughout the community to help guide and connect you to the vast open space areas. CPNMD knows how valuable these trails and open space corridors are to our residents. They create natural buffers and native habitat for wildlife and make the District an exceptional place to live.

The Castle Pines North Metropolitan District owns and maintains three local parks within the community. Each park has restrooms, benches, drinking fountains and ample parking to accommodate visitor needs. Park hours are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from April through October. In consideration of other park visitors, please keep pets on a leash and help keep our parks clean by disposing of any pet waste in a trash container.
Retreat Park
Built as part of the original development of Castle Pines North in the 1980's, The Retreat Park features 5 acres with the following areas:
- Large playground area with picnic areas and a covered shelter
- Playground with a covered picnic pavilion & BBQ grill
- Multi-purpose field (football/soccer/lacrosse/volleyball)
- Baseball practice field
- Walking trail
The park is located on Tangleoak Drive, in the Retreat neighborhood.
Coyote Ridge Park
Coyote Ridge Park is the community’s largest park, with three unique areas inside its 15 acres. Opened in 2001, residents enjoy these features:

Daniel’s Gate Park
Since 2001, the two-acre Daniel’s Gate Park has provided enjoyment for all ages. The park offers residents and visitors distinct areas for various activities; these include:

Elk Ridge Park is owned and operated by the City of Castle Pines. The 12-acre park opened in 2011 in Castle Pines North and includes these features:
